Ryne's obituary

Our Ryne-o, Ryne Bear won his war with cancer at the age of 34. His final battle was letting go so

his body could defeat the enemy he battled valiantly for three years. He earned his warrior’s place

in Valhalla, dying on the field of battle and killing the enemy on his way.

Ryne Alexander Edward DeArmond came into the world ass-backwards at 0304 on April 7th, 1990, in

Odessa, Texas. He left at 0204 on May 24th, 2024. And in between he lived his life on his terms.

After graduating high school in China Spring, Texas, he learned the craft of whiskey distilling at

Balcones Distillery in Waco and attended Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. He earned his

Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. A constitutional scholar, he chose to go to law school at

South Texas College of Law but found after a year that being a lawyer was not for him. So, he got his

merchant mariner credential with the US Coast Guard, after attending the school at San Jacinto

College. And then, he served as captain aboard the Seagull II in Galveston, Texas, giving hilarious

historic harbor tours for the Texas Seaport Museum. He pursued his love of history by learning the

art of blacksmithing and bringing those skills to the George Ranch in Richmond, Texas, where he

taught school kids the history of Texas as told through the story of 100 years of one Texas ranch

family.

Ryne will be deeply missed by his best friend, his sister Sarah Catharine Elizabeth DeArmond and

his biggest supporter, his mom, Lynda Jayne Barry along with a large extended family and circle of

friends.

In honor and memory of Ryne, we ask that you celebrate his life in whatever way seems right to you.

Raise a glass of your preferred beverage and drink a toast to Ryne. The family will be grieving

privately. Please feel free to leave a story or memory on his legacy FB page if you would like to.

And in lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or K-9 unit. Or, have a drink at your

local pub, shoot a few rounds at your gun range or head to the beach or the lake and go fishing and

just enjoy the day.

In loving memory of our Ryne-o

Lynda and Sarah.
