Ryan's obituary
Ryan John Franz, age 33, passed away on January 6, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas. Born in Houston, Ryan was raised in New Braunfels, where he built lasting relationships and left a meaningful imprint on everyone who knew him. He graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing, before beginning his adult life in Atlanta and later spending several years in Boston. In 2019, Ryan returned to Texas, where he remained until his passing.
Known for his honesty, Ryan never pretended to be anything other than himself. He had a love for travel, a fascination with history, and a refined taste that showed in everything he did. More than anything, Ryan cared deeply for the people closest to him. He wanted them protected, supported, and cared for—always. If someone he loved needed help, Ryan was there without hesitation.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Giovanna Mayfield. Ryan is survived by his grandparents, Jerry and Gloria Kuehler; his parents, Kimberly Kuehler, Stephen Kuehler, Lawrence Franz, and Laura Franz; his siblings, Gigi Franz, Kassidy Franz, C.J. Kuehler, and Kristin Leihsing; his niece and nephew, Emma and Jaden Leihsing; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and the family’s beloved pets: Soleil, companion to Gigi Franz; Nova and Shaxx, companions to Kassidy Franz; and Lily, companion to his parents, Kimberly and Stephen Kuehler.
Those who knew Ryan will always remember his generosity, his fierce loyalty, and the joy he brought into their lives.
