Ms. Ruthie "Sista’" Brown, 69, of Mountain House, CA, passed away on January 26, 2023 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ruthie was born on April 12, 1953 to Mary Elizabeth Brown and Deloach Brown in Greenwood, Mississippi.  At the young age of 3 years old, Ruthie moved to Chicago with her family and spent most of her life  in the Windy City.  After graduating from Calumet High School in 1971, she went on to study phlebotomy at trade program.

Upon leaving the trade program, she landed her first job as a phlebotomist for a detox program.  She went on to change industries from the medical industry to the transportation industry, kicking off a 34 year career as a bus operator for Chicago Transit Authority. Ruthie married and divorced twice, through these relationships she went on to have three children, Fontae Ferguson, Kandace Brown, and Stephanie (Chilton) McWoods into the world.  After retiring in [retirement year], Ruthie spent her time shopping and indulging at her favorite restaurants.

Ruthie was predeceased by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Brown, grandmother, Velma Starks, grandfather, Stonewall Starks, son, Fontae Ferguson. She is survived by daughters, Kandace Brown and Stephanie McWoods, son in law, Daryl McWoods Jr, and grandchildren, Kyra Payton, Saxxen Little, and Emerson McWoods.
