Rutha Edwards- McClure, 75, of Long Beach, CA, passed away on April 19, 2023 after a  long time health battle with multiple internal organ issues, my mother was diagnosed with with stage 4 cancer in her pancreas that quickly spread throughout her body before any treatment  could have been taken. 

Rutha was born on JUNE 11th , 1947 to Anna Edwards and Daniel  Edwards  in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from High School  in Chicago, she went on to study Cosmetology. 

Rutha Mae loved entertaining with friends and family, but horror movies were her favorite no matter how scary it was. Rutha Mae loved "oldies but goodies" songs, her face would light up when she heard The Staple Singers and a lot of other R& B artists.

Ruth's hobbies were  unconventional and eccentric. I discovered she also painted pictures that she didn't share until her later years.  Rutha Mae leaves behind three children,  Sonja Edwards,  Pamela McClure,  and Denise McClure.  Rutha Edwards also left behind  nine grandchildren, Phillip  Nichols Jr., Shana Nichols,  Miles Nichols,  Maurtice Turner, Sharinae McClure,  Alize Buckner, Marquell Buckner,  Dontrell Buckner,  and Amaree McClure.   Rutha had five great-grandkids, the oldest Dahnya Potts, Daniel Potts Jr., Rashard Buckner, Christina Burley, and the youngest Miracle Buckner. We will miss her greatly.

Rutha was predeceased by wonderful parents Anna Edwards and Daniel Edwards. She is survived by so many family members who are still alive from a deceased grandmother who had thirteen children and the list is too many to count.

The family requests that no flowers are needed since she was given her flowers while she was alive to enjoy them.
