Ruth Weisberger Taren, age 89, passed away Monday at the Abramson Center for Jewish Life in North Wales, Pennsylvania, where she has resided since 2016. Ruth was lovingly married for seventy (70) years to Arnold Taren, who died last March. Ruth grew up in Edwardsville, Pa, along with her three sisters, Esther, Malka and Joan. Ruth lived in Wilkes-Barre and Kingston, Pennsylvania,for most of her adult life, raising two children, Jeffrey (living in Seattle with his wife Carolyn) and Alan (residing in Ambler, Pa with his wife Cindy). A Gold Life Master in Tournament Bridge, Ruth was a passionate Bridge instructor and competitor. In 1978, after traveling cross-country in a cantankerous Winnebago with her husband, Arnold, Ruth and Arnold settled in Scottsdale, Arizona where they flourished – making many friends, including quite a few Wilkes-Barre ex-pats. Ruth doted on her four grandchildren, Jordan and Mariel (Jeff’s) and Adrienne and Ben (Alan’s). Graveside funeral services will be held at Ohav Zedek Cemetery in Hanover, PA on Wednesday, February 5 at 1:00pm.
