Ruth Irene Spracklin Cornell, age 93, died on Sunday August 17, 2025 in Bronte, TX. Ruth is survived by her daughters Denise Gallaway of Bronte, and Kathy Wertz currently of New Braunfels. She is also survived by her sister Daphne Hynes, eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several in-laws, and a warm and loving extended family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Cornell, sons Robert “Bobby” and Richard, and siblings Cal, Joan, Mack and Ralph.

Ruth was born on December 9, 1931. At the age of 19, she married the love of her life and immigrated to the United States from Canada. The couple raised their four children in Pennsylvania. Widowed at age 45, she never loved another. Ruth worked many years as a waitress at The Gateway and recalls her years there fondly. In 1994, Ruth moved to Texas. She lived a long and happy life, while keeping close contact with family far away. After a long fought battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, she passed away peacefully. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice as well as Bronte Nursing and Rehab for their supportive and loving care. Ruth was a willed donor to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Institute of Anatomical Sciences. Her donation is a meaningful contribution to the advancement of education, medical training, and future healing. A private family service will be held when her cremated remains are returned and interred at the cemetery in Bronte, TX.
