Peg's obituary
Peg (Ruth Margaret) Reed, born on November 6, 1933, in Denver, Colorado, passed away on February 6, 2024, in Grand Junction, Colorado, at the age of 90. She will be remembered for her deep love for all people and her proud Irish heritage. Ruth found joy in singing Irish lullabies to her children and had a talent for poetry and acting. She actively participated in community theater, and her many years of working in public relations and advertising led to a special connection to the Denver Public Schools Shakespeare Festival.
Ruth's passion for the arts extended beyond poetry and acting, as she managed a local band (Sanguma) while living in Papua New Guinea. She toured with the band throughout Papua New Guinea, the United States, and even to the World's Fair in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her love for the performance arts was a significant part of her life.
However, her greatest passion was her family. She along with her first husband raised their four children on a ranch outside of Holyoke, Colorado. Ranch life was new for this “city girl” but she met the challenge and provided a good home for her family. She was active in bowling leagues, volunteered her time at the local school’s drama program, and taught catechism in the local church.
She is survived by her sister Anita Saunders of Denver, CO; her children Dake Warren of Grand Junction, CO, Clay Warren of Puyallup, WA, and Elizabeth Madaris of Ava, MO; as well as many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Jack Reed, brother Thomas Murnan, son Louis Warren, stepson Bobby Reed, and grandson Catlin Walsh.
A celebration of life is being planned in Denver CO at Washington Park Boat house on June 23 at 4:00 pm to honor Ruth's remarkable life. Her presence and dedication to her family and friends will be deeply missed.
