Ruth Ilene Doak

(nee Simmons, formerly Davis)

September 23, 1951 – December 5, 2024

Ruth Ilene Doak, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on December 5, 2024. A lifelong resident of the Trenton area, Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Doak; her children, Jeff Davis (Chelle) and Michelle Shaw (Adam); her brother, Paul Simmons; and her brother Dave Simmons (Maryann). Ruth was the beloved grandmother of Cooper and Georgia, the children of Jeff and Chelle, and Brady and Leah, the children of Michelle and Adam. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Ruth taught both water aerobics and parent and tot swim lessons, as well as water aerobics classes in the community for over 40 years. She loved teaching, and especially enjoyed making connections to multiple generations of students.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10:30 AM (visitation with family at 9:30) at St. Thomas Church, 2441 Nichols St., Trenton, MI. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) in Ruth’s memory.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, warmth, and caring spirit will always be remembered.
