Ruth started   State Street  Elementary School in the fifth grade around  1940.   We became immediate friends and remained so for the rest of Ruth's life.  Ruth  was smart ,  happy, and immediately  became a   friend to everyone. She led us though some good  times.   She was voted president of our sorority , and  she could take on that responsibility and still make good grades. and enjoy life.  Actually, Ruth could do just about anything.  I think of her often.  I still chuckle  about the story she told me that when she was teaching , and  she had to run errands during lunch and was hurrying to get back to her class of first graders,   she passed a stopped school bus with lights flashing.   Fortunately she was only given a warning.
