My favorite memory of Aunt Ruth happened on a stressful day for her. She was worried because Uncle Richard was getting some medical tests, and she wasn’t with him. I sat with her for a few hours, and despite my assurances that he was okay and my attempts to distract her, she was completely focused on Uncle Richard. When he returned and I wheeled her wheelchair to go see him, her entire demeanor changed. Her agitation and concern melted away in an instant. All was right with the world again. Watching them together was the perfect definition of what “home” looks like. Safety. Love. Belonging. Peace. I love you, Aunt Ruth.
In response to "What did you learn from Ruth?"
Beautiful flowers remind me of Ruth. She had a flower shop and made beautiful arrangements. One or two Mothers' Days, I spent time in the shop, helping her to get orders out for other mothers. She was an enthusiastic and kind person.
In response to "What always reminds you of Ruth?"

Aunt Ruth was perennially someone who radiated love and warmth.

Even in her later years, I never once heard her complain. She had an incredible ability to lift up all those around her. She will be missed

I had just come home from serving a church mission in Peru and came to visit aunt Ruth wearing one of the colorful Peruvian sweaters I had bought there. She was SO kind and full of compliments about the patterns and colors and knitting! We both quickly bonded over our love for clothes and style. Aunt Ruth was a very fashionable lady!
