Russell's obituary
Russell Allen Tannert, age 66, of Vader, Washington, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington. Born on March 18, 1959, in Northridge, California, and was raised in Simi Valley, California, where he graduated from Royal High School.
Russell was resilient and carried the values of hard work and perseverance with him throughout his life. He was loyal and compassionate, with a sensitive heart that shone brightest when he was surrounded by those he loved. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a great story teller with a sense of humor and his advice and words of wisdom will stay with us.
Russell was known for his extraordinary skill as a woodworker—his talents were unmatched, and his creations reflected both precision and artistry. Whether crafting furniture or intricate pieces for loved ones, Russell poured his heart into every project. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and camping with his family.
A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and son, Russell is survived by his three children: Jason (Kerri) Tannert, Nathan Tannert, and Jacqueline (Francisco) Becerra; and eight beloved grandchildren: Gianna, Joelle, and Baby Boy Becerra; Aiden and Conor Tannert; Chloy and Desirae Tannert; and Mason Perkins. He is also survived by his former wife, Deborah Tannert; his mother and stepfather, Dona and Jesse Gauna; and his brothers: Darrin (Maureen) Tannert, John Tannert, and Steven (James) Tannert. He was preceded in death by his father, John Tannert, and sister-in-law Kasey Tannert.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 12pm at the Courtyard by Marriot in Ogden Utah.
