Russell's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell "Rusty" Honeycutt. Born on May 31, 1959, Rusty bid this world farewell on October 6, 2024 in Tyler, Texas following complications from surgery. He was a man of jovial spirit, an incredibly talented drummer, and was loved by many.
Rusty graduated from Lindale High School in Texas, class of 1977 and went on to attend Tyler Junior College. He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, through all of the ups and downs! Rusty had a love for life which was expressed through his electrifying performances as a drummer. He began his musical journey after drumming in high school and college with the rock band, Hobbit, then transitioned into country music, sharing the stage with Johnny Lee. One of his proudest moments was playing at the esteemed Grand Ole Opry. Rusty played in various bands around the Tyler area and loved to share his talents with anyone who would listen.
Rusty was a fun-loving individual, known for his sharp wit and humor. Yet, his greatest pride and joy lay within his family. He leaves behind his daughter, Lindsey Cary (Heath); his sons, Zach Honeycutt (Jordan), and Mason Honeycutt; four precious grandchildren, Miles Cary, Grayson, Hannah, and Jude Honeycutt; his siblings, Lee Mason Honeycutt Jr, Randy Honeycutt (Bonnie), Penny Honeycutt, and Cindy Hooser (Brent), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rusty now joins his parents, Lee Mason Honeycutt and Peggy Honeycutt, and sister, Sandra Bonds, in eternal peace. His memory lives on in the hearts of his loved ones who miss him sorely. May his beats echo in heaven as they did on earth, filling the air with rhythm and joy.
A graveside celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 29th at Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy, TX. Further details will be posted once they are finalized.
