Russell Frederick Compton III
December 10, 1955 - November 22, 2023
Russell Frederick Compton III, “Russ”, 67, passed away on November 22, 2023 in Yucaipa, CA of unknown cause. Russ was born on December 10, 1955 in Rochester, MN to Ruth Evelyn and Russell F. Compton II. The family moved to CA shortly after Russ was born and he remained a permanent resident of CA until his death. Russ was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and great uncle. He will always be remembered for being the kindest and most gentle soul. Throughout his life he suffered and endured severe mental disability. When he was able his passion was surfing. He longed to be near the ocean and watch the waves. Russ was a lifelong devout Catholic with an unwavering deep faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Russ was preceded in death by his father, Russell F. Compton II, and his nephew, Ryan Moats. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Evelyn Compton, Oceanside, CA; his sister, Joan Compton Haydock (George III), Louisville, CO; his sister, Dianne Marie Compton, Denver, CO; his brother Robert Arthur Compton (Peg), Encinitas, CA; his nephews: Charlie Haydock, Long Island City, NY; Robert Haydock, Fort Collins, CO; George Haydock IV (Jess), Newport, VT; Bennett Compton, Encinitas, CA; his nieces: Kristen Brelig (Nate), Denver CO; Lauren Moats, Denver, CO; Kyra Compton, Encinitas, CA; 3 great nephews, numerous cousins, aunts, and other extended family.
A special prayer of Russ’s - The Closing prayer of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy:
‘Oh Holy and Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, increase Your mercy in us that in difficult moments we may not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your Holy Will which is love and mercy itself.’
