Russell's obituary
Russell was born on November 4, 1954 to Ernest Anthony and Mariana Koontz in Amarillo, TX. After graduating from W.H. Adamson High School in 1972, he joined the United States Air Force and served four years as a logistics specialist. Following his military service, he went on to study Geology at The University of Texas in Austin and Arlington.
Following graduation, he worked for a number of engineering and environmental research companies, the longest of which was BSK & Associates in Bakersfield, CA. Russell was a passionate father, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Weston, Tyler, and Lauren and always tried his best to support them.
Russell was also an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the UT Longhorns. When he wasn’t at home, he could often be found riding his bicycle.
Anyone who knew Russell knew that he was the most loving father a family could ask for. Russell was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Anthony and Mariana Koontz, and brother, Leland Anthony. He is survived by his brother, Clay Anthony, children, Weston Anthony, Tyler Anthony, Lauren Anthony, grandson, Jack Dunn, and former wife, Marcella Ives. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on October 1, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Bakersfield, followed by a private reception. The family asks that all flowers and notes be sent to either First Pres. or the reception address.
