Russel's obituary

Russel James Linderborg, "Russ", was born on July 10, 1945 in Chicago Illinois. He died peacefully in his home in Oroville, California, of heart complications on November 20, 2020. He graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois in 1964. Russ was proud to be a member of his local Laborers’ Union, and worked as a Hod Carrier in the Union for close to 30 years before retiring. He helped to build bridges, schools, libraries, shopping centers, prisons, and many types of structures throughout the state of California. As a young man, he worked as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes, a Building Painter, and a Taxi Cab driver in San Francisco. Russ was also a member of a hippy commune during the late 60s and early 70s in the famous Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. His work ethic was one of his strong characteristics, as well as his dark sense of humor, love of family, and straightforward way of communicating. Some of the things he enjoyed most in life were getting dressed up for a good party, barbequing, fishing, hunting, boating, walking his dog by the river, gardening, listening to talk shows and music on the radio, going to concerts, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, girlfriend Liz, sisters, and nieces and nephews. He remained friends with his ex-wife of 27 years, Wendy. His children, James, Joseph, Beth, Lucera, and Gina, his eight grandchildren, his sisters, Pat and Sharon, and several nieces and nephews, survive him. The family will hold a private memorial in July. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org, PO Box 742030, Los Angeles, CA 90074-2030.
