Ruby's obituary

Ruby May (Hales) Miller was born on June 18, 1931, in McNulty, Oregon to Alonzo and Elsie (Hewitt) Hales.

She passed away on April 27th, 2024 of natural causes, at her apartment at The Ackerly in Sherwood, Oregon, at the age of 92.

Ruby attended Scappoose schools and graduated from Scappoose Union High School in 1949.

She married Max G. Miller in Reno, Nevada. She lost Max after a long illness on April 27, 1995.

Ruby worked for various companies in Oregon and California. One of her various job paths lead her to Evergreen Helicopters in McMinnville, OR where she was the Personal Assistant to Dell Smith. After retiring many times, she landed at Yule Tree Farms full time where she did office work and the company payroll. When retiring from this job, she was gifted a Safari in Kenya. After a year or two of retirement, Ruby decided to go back to work part time, where she worked at Kohl’s in Salem, OR. When she was not working, Ruby loved to play Pinochle and would play at the Salem Senior Center and later when she moved to King City Oregon, she continued her love of the game.

Ruby is survived by her son, Michael and wife Lorrie, of Tualatin, OR.; granddaughter Cheryl and husband Brad Miller of Mollala, OR,; grandson Sean Miller and wife Louisa of Dalles, OR.; Step-granddaughter, Heather Anderson , of Tualatin, OR.; one great-grandson, 3 great-granddaughters; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers John, Ray, Everett, Gene, Kenneth, Robert; and sisters Matie and Frances.

Ruby and Max will be together again at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. Family Memorial will be on July 26, 2024 at 10:45am. Family will gather afterwards for a lunch together.
