Ruby's obituary
She was 102 years of age when she passed, and she loved living every moment. She was happy in life, generous and caring to all who knew her, and her uplifting smile and friendly chatter put a smile on everyone's face at all times. Ruby fought her long, brave fight with cancer, smiling through it all, but this last battle she could not win. She is predeceased by Wayne Ross, her husband of 50 years, and is survived by a nephew by marriage.
Though she and Wayne did not have children, they raised several youngsters as their own. She was raised up Nebraska, and upon their marriage, Ruby joined Wayne as he travelled through the Mid- and North-West in the vagabond lifestyle of a sheep-shearer, many times shearing 200 or more sheep in a single day. Over the years, Ruby developed her impressive and myriad talents,. She was and award-winning quilter, every traditional quilt pattern was cut and meticulously sewn by hand!
She was a Legionnaire, and a long-time member of the Red Hat Society Quartrzsite, serving as President for some years.
Ruby put her considerable talent to many forms of fine art, crafts, needlework, sewing fine clothing, knitting, crocheting and jewelry-making, Her own oil paintings reflect her life, with beautifully rendered scenes of Nebraska, Arizona, and other regions she travelled. And, not forgetting the importance of sheep in her life, her metici;ously detailed pencuk and ccharcoal drawing of a fine ram;s head alonf with typical items that would be seen on the dusty, long roads as they followed the sheep and enjoyed their travels across the country.
