Ruby's obituary

Ruby Coleen (Fudge) Condit

1956-2021

Ruby Coleen (Fudge) Condit, 64, of Albuquerque, NM passed away in her home in the presence of her family on January 18, 2021, following a prolonged illness. A private Celebration of Life will be held at her home in the upcoming days. She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond E. and Grace L. (Lookingbill) Fudge, and her sister Opal Doreen (Fudge) Alvarez. She is survived by her husband of 43 years Gary D. Condit, and her two sons Grant E. Condit and Neil G. R. Condit. In lieu of flowers, Ruby would want others to give a simple kindness to someone else. In her words: “Feel that wonderful sense of Joy in watching them walk away a little taller with a smile on their face and a spring in their step.” Countless lives were touched by Ruby’s kind voice, enduring smile, and open heart.

She was born on May 12, 1956 in Clayton, NM, the second daughter to Raymond and Gracie Fudge. After graduating from Clayton High in 1974, Ruby accepted a position as a Clerk-Typist for the U.S. Forest Service, Rita Blanca Ranger District in Texline. Tx. In 1977, she transferred to the Cibola National Forest office in Albuquerque, NM, where she worked when she met Gary, the love of her life. The couple quickly fell in love and married at Eastern Hills Baptist Church in the Autumn of 1977. She continued working until 1980, which brought the birth of her first son, Grant. She devoted the next years of her life to raising her family, and welcomed the birth of her second son, Neil, in 1983. She filled her home during these years with love and music, with hot meals and comfort. But as her sons grew, Ruby rejoined the workforce selling Avon, where she met many lifelong friends. She balanced work and family masterfully, never missing a single event, game, or moment. She lived for those moments. As years passed, she worked as a travel agent, an administrative assistant, and a caretaker for the elderly. She found happiness in her work by helping others, and with Christ in her heart, kindness in her eyes, and a smile on her face, Ruby lived a happy and good life. When she fell ill unexpectedly, she fought with Grace and Courage up to her very last days, when she said to her family: “I have lived a truly blessed life.”—And so have we for having had her in ours.
