Royce's obituary
ROYCE L. HEMMINGSEN, 65, of Axtell, NE, died unexpectedly at his home on October 28, 2023.
Royce was born August 31, 1958 to Allen R. and Mildred M. Hemmingsen (Bowlby) in Central City, NE. He was the 2nd of four children from this union. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kronberg NE and confirmed in the Episcopal Church.
He attended elementary school in Kearney, Ogallala, Paxton; Jr High in North Platte & McCook; Highschool at Beaver Valley high school, Lebanon, NE and then graduated from Kearney High School in 1976.
In September 1987 he married Rosemary Christen. From this union, they were blessed with their daughter, Kate. After 18 years of marriage, Royce & Rose separated, then later divorced.
Royce began working at an early age. He performed a wide variety of work, but finally settled in the field of plumbing. He was a Master Plumber for over 35 years.
He was a fan of all Husker sports and enjoyed watching them on TV or listening to them on the radio. He was an avid reader, loved all types of music, especially oldies. He was a fabulous cook. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his beloved pets. He spent quite a bit of time listening to local and state, talk radio and often called in to share his opinions. He was very strong willed, but loved a good laugh and had an awesome sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Kate (Chaz) Krueger; grandchildren: Serena & Mya Hemmingsen; Jaxton Krueger, all of Kearney; Katana Schwedes & great granddaughter, Annanaiah Mannrique, Great Bend, KS. His mother & step-father, Millie & Larry Nadeau, Aurora, NE and his dog, Bob.
Siblings: Milt (Anne Marie) Hemmingsen, TN; Timothy Hemmingsen, Elwood; Wanda (David) Frink, Kearney; Joy Crawford, Lincoln; Tove (Brad) Reiman, Arapahoe.
Step Siblings: Timothy (Lori) Swett. SD; Nancy (Kevin) Bullis, Elwood; Terry (Keith) Watts, CO; Dyan (Darold) Winchell, CO. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and some very dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father & step-mother, Allen & Mary Hemmingsen; Grandparents: Magnus & Emma Hemmingsen; Leo & Fern Bowlby; brother-in-law, Jeff Crawford; Aunts & Uncles & two cousins.
His family is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation because cremation was chosen. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. https://everloved.com/life-of…
