Gene's obituary
Royal Gene Sears, 93, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Smyrna, Tennessee.
Born on June 1, 1932, in Arnett, West Virginia, Gene lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, kindness, and devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, embodying a spirit of duty and commitment that remained with him throughout his life.
Gene was known for being a kind and friendly face—someone whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around him. In his early days, he loved squirrel hunting in West Virginia. He also enjoyed playing golf and working in his garden. He was always outside in the sunshine and even mowed many yards until he was 91 years old. He was a member of Smyrna Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Sears; his parents Clarence and Gaye Sears; brothers Lowell Sears, Doyal Sears, and Oval Sears; and sister Judy.
He is lovingly remembered by his son Rod (Laura) Sears; daughter Denise Meek; grandchildren Hayden (Katie) Sears, Alex (Abby) Sears, Reed (Jenna) Sears, Allison (Colton) Mader, and Austin Meek; great-grandson Owen Sears; and brother Jennings (Kathy) Sears.
A life well-lived leaves behind a legacy of love. May Gene's memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on September 23, 2025 at Smyrna Church of Christ. There will be a visitation from 5:30-6:30 with a memorial service to follow at 6:30.
