Roy's obituary

Roy "Papa" Moore, born on August 29, 1943, cherished by many as "Papa" but preferred to be called Roy, passed away on June 3, 2025. His unwavering strength, passionate disposition, and the light-hearted humor he brought into every room will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by his loving grandson, Lamarrio Moore, his dutiful sons, Roy Lee Moore Jr. and John Moore, his caring brother, James May, and his ever-supportive sister, May Lee Ware. His enthusiastic granddaughter, Koshina Moore, also survives him. Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Odessa Moore, his mother, Mattie Epps, and his father, Charlie Epps, whose memories he held close to him.

Roy's life was filled with indelible milestones. He started his journey with US Army on February 1, 1961, displaying an exceptional level of dedication and commitment. The next year, he married the love of his life, Odessa Moore, and together they built a beautiful life full of enduring love. A big part of his life was his remarkable stint at Ford, where he worked for 35 years, a shining testament to his unwavering dedication.

Living a life full of rich experiences, Roy had a particular fondness for liver and Coca Cola. He would spend enjoyable afternoons watching Gunsmoke old westerns and listening to the blues of BB King. A die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he often engaged in a friendly game of Horseshoe. He was a man of the outdoors, preferring fishing for recreation and walking for exercise.

Roy was a man deeply committed to his family and the well-being of others, these being causes he held dear. His personality, bursting with love, dependability, strength, passion, and a full-time comedian's flair, touched everyone he knew. His favorite color, blue, was as deep and reflective as his persona. A selfless man, his counsel to never give up steered many through rough tides.

Roy's greatest legacy is the close-knit family he created and nurtured. His loved ones aim to honor his memory by following in his righteous footsteps and continuing his dedication to family and care for everyone.

Roy's life will be celebrated at a funeral service to be held on June 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Cross Pointe Christian Fellowship. His memory will forever resonate with all those who knew him.
