Roy's obituary
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Roy Wayne Christian, a deeply cherished man who breathed his first on June 3, 1948, and departed this life on November 11, 2023. He is survived by his doting wife of 58 years, Judy Christian, and their children: son Roarke Christian (Wanda Christian), and daughters Andrea LeBar and Stephanie Christian (David Schlamp).
He leaves a proud legacy in the form of his grandchildren: Daniel LeBar, Alexandria LeBar, Christian Filby, Aurora Schlamp, Olivia Schlamp, Jennifer Eastman (Carl Eastman), Jason Barrett, and greatgrandchildren: Brittany Barrett, Madison Eastman, Jacob Barrett, Alexander Eastman, and Connor Eastman, and many nieces and nephews. His love extended to all, including his many friends and coworkers he made over the years.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, RW "Dub" Christian and Eloise Ray, and his loving sister, Rita Fincher.
His early childhood years were spent in the oil fields of west Texas. He enjoyed his time attending Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. In 1965, he had begun his beautiful journey of marriage with Judy Christian. Throughout his life, he was an active member of many churches; in 2016 he joined Milwood Baptist Church where he and Judy enjoyed and took solitude in being a part of the MBC family.
Roy was a fervent fan of TexMex and found joy in sipping his favorite drink, Dr. Pepper. Throughout his life photography was an avid passion of his. He enjoyed listening to country and gospel music. Those who were fortunate to know him can affirm that he was a man of hard work, known for his friendliness and camaraderie. He held many jobs throughout his life including managing retail chains, owning his own print, computer, and photography companies; he retired from Northrup Grumman Space & Defense after many years of hard work.
Roy was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020. In his finals years he struggled physically as post-polio-syndrome caused him to loose his strength and mobility. In his final weeks Roy was cared for, in part, by Magnolia Hospice, for which his family is very grateful.
His loss leaves a void in our hearts which will forever be filled with the memories of his love, warmth, and the wise lessons he imparted. While we are sadden that he is no longer with us, we rejoice in knowing he is now with our Lord in Heaven and is no longer in pain. May he rest in peace.
