Roy Breckenridge was born on February 8, 1952, to Henry and Ethel Breckenridge, who preceded him in death, in Montgomery WV. He lived in Newark New Jersey until he retired to Salem, New Jersey until his Sunset in March 2020. Roy was an employee for the State of New Jersey Bureau of Securities. His passion and commitment to service was his Non-Profit, The Guiding Hand! His tireless commitment to community and advocacy was his life's work for youth and families. He had many projects with organizations for which The Guiding Hand helped to bring awareness and committed his life to service in the community. In legacy, he leaves six children: Kim (Kevin) Hairston, Kelly Breckenridge, Roy A. Breckenridge, Thaddaus Breckenridge, Kevin Breckenridge, Johnathan Breckenridge. As well as 17 Grandchildren: Brooke, Brittany, Alexandria (Christopher), Anastasia, Thaddaus, Aaron, Ki’azha, Arlauna, Johnathan, Elijah, Isaiah, Azarra, Carizma, Mayson, Cherish, Karti’er and 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his loving brother Leon (Charlotte), nephews Henry, Robert (Danielle), Daniel, niece Ashley (Joseph). As well as great-nieces and nephews.
In these trying and uncertain times, we are understanding you can postpone a memorial service, but you cannot postpone grieving for or with your loved ones. Because of travel restrictions, we cannot plan a traditional memorial service. Our family will postpone a traditional service and convene after we get more information about our current state of emergency. Expressions of sympathy can be sent through The Guiding Hand Facebook page, his non-profit and life's work. Roy Breckenridge was a man of legacy. Although absent in body he is present with God.
