Roxinne McPhail
12/09/1961 - 22/01/2025
Dear Roxinne, Our friend since the mid 60’s when Dad and Bob first met and the Mcphails and Langridges then met for the first family occasion.
From then on she was entwined with our family and became a great friend to us.
Sadly, the McPhails left for Melbourne in the 70’s and after a few years moved back to the USA to Minneapolis.
Mum visited in the late 70’s and travelled up to Belmont where Rox will be buried and where Bob's family had come from.
We travelled to the USA in 1980 where I was reacquainted with a wild, teenage Rox.
Over the years we visited the USA again, Roxinne also came to Australia a number of times including a long Period in 86/87 where she nearly made the move to return back to Australia permanently.
In 2003 we had a fantastic time staying in San Diego with Roxinne, Driving to Vegas with her after which the family toured the National parks driving Roxinnes Volvo. Michael had his 15 BD and Roxinne cooked up an Indian feast at his request which we did at Janice's place .
Roxinne had many ups and downs over the years and survived a couple of major crises in her life, always managing to pull through and get back on her feet. Her resilience was amazing in being able to head to the unknown of Bismarck, Nth Dakota to start a whole new life after being affected badly in the 2003 GFC.
Over her life Roxinne worked in Business, Restaurants, Real Estate, Public Service, She was an Entrepreneur and Property Mogul She was a wonderful Aunt to Lauren and Sarah.
She last came to Australia in 2019 for Katie and Ambers wedding and I last saw her for the four days in Las Vegas last year. Our last thing was dinner down on the strip and wandering around the Venetian where I bought my Psycho Bunny T shirt. That was a signature part of my friendship with Rox buying shirts over the years with Roxinne choosing or giving her approval. We walked back after the 11.00 pm Bellagio fountains. The next morning we went our separate ways.
Roxinne was a loyal friend and I’m sure saw Mum (Jean) as her 2nd mother. She spent many, many weeks in all at 13 Morrell Place where Mum became a support for her on many occasions as she struggled with a number of difficult issues.
It's very sad to be standing here saying these words as her death was so unexpected. She will be buried in the tiny town of Belmont, Manitoba in the early hours of tomorrow with all her family in attendance.
RIP Roxinne.
