Ross's obituary

Ross Oakley Sorensen, 61, of Lafitte, LA, formerly of New Orleans, LA, and Kiln, MS. passed away on May 6, 2021 in Lafitte, LA. Born July 11, 1959 in Covington, LA, he was the son of the late Deacon George Alfred Sorensen, Jr. and the late Emma Del Couvillon Sorensen and brother to the late Ilene Sorensen Simoncioni.
Ross attended Lake Castle Private School in New Orleans East and St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, MS. He made lifelong friends while living in Diamonhead, MS. throughout his teen years. Ross served in the U.S. Army from 1977 through 1980, stationed in Korea. Upon returning home, he lived in Kiln, MS. through the 1980’s and 1990’s. He worked in Lafitte, LA in the oil field. Lafitte, Louisiana became Ross’ second home. Ross will be most remembered as a loving, giving man, always true to his friends and helped anyone in need.
He is survived by brother-in-law, Otello Mario Simoncioni, Jr., niece, Tonya Simoncioni Hill, husband Jeffery, and children, Rebecca Hill, Jonathan Hill, and Melissa Hill of Denham Springs, LA; niece, Erika Simoncioni Cook and daughter, Corinne Cook of Swampscott, MA; nephew, Nicholas George Simoncioni, wife Elizabeth, and children, Giorgio Simoncioni, Tristan Simoncioni, and Jonah Simoncioni of Newhall, CA.
Funeral and burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 25, 2021 in St. Louis Cemetery #3, located at 3421 Esplanade Ave., 5-east section H, Lot 2, Aisle #26, Double-Tomb, Sorensen-Simoncioni in New Orleans, LA. Parking on St. Louis Ave. near tomb.
