Roslyn's obituary
In loving memory of Roslyn V. Levy, who passed away peacefully on 20-Mar-2024 at the age of 71.
Roslyn was a beloved sister, spouse, parent, grandparent, friend, and colleague. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by brother Dan, husband Dave, children Alan and Diana, and grandchildren Owen and Eva. She was predeceased by her beloved sister Margaret Valentine of Montclair NJ.
Roslyn was born on 24-May-1952 in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood. Roslyn and Dave were married in her parents’ apartment in Brooklyn NY on 26-Aug-1973.
She graduated from the University of Rochester in 1973 with a degree in Geology. She received her Masters of Library Science in 2007 from Simmons College.
Her professional career included work as a computer programmer (ASA Incorporated, DST Systems), a software quality control analyst (DST Systems), and more recently a Technical Services Librarian at Curry College. She brought her sharp intellect, wit, and collaboration skills to all of her professional endeavors.
As a mom, she raised two wonderful children, shared a PTO presidency with husband Dave, and was a masterful schlepper of student musicians with their various instruments. She loved to sew and quilt before arthritis took that away and was very proud of the beautiful parochet that still blesses the ark at Temple Beth David as well as Alan’s bar mitzvah and Diana’s bat mitzvah talit as well as numerous Halloween costumes.
Roslyn was a kind, gentle, and compassionate person. She loved books and got great joy from helping students and colleagues navigate the library system to access information. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Roslyn will be remembered for her wit, her warm smile, and her love for others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of life service will be held on 24-May in Canton MA. Please contact Dave if you wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roslyn’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (https://pancan.org/ways-to-gi…) or VNA Hospice & Palliative Care (https://vnacare.org/donors)
