Rose Sage Potter Wheelersburg

February 2, 1950-January 2, 2021 (age 70)

Rose Sage Potter Wheelersburg 70 of Raceland, Ky went home to be with the Lord Saturday January 2, 2021 at her residence. Mrs. Wheelersburg was born February 2, 1950 to the late Thomas and Wanda King Potter. Including her parents also proceeding her in death are 2 son in laws Jeff Nelson and Steven Hall, a daughter in law Lee Wheelersburg, and a brother Tom Potter.

She was a 1968 graduate from Raceland High School and attended Morehead State University and obtained a Master’s Degree. She was a retired teacher from Raceland Worthington Independent School District after teaching for 42 years. Her students described her as “a fun and very loving teacher.” She was a devout Christian and a member of Wurtland First Missionary Baptist Church where she used to teach Sunday School. She enjoyed singing at church and sang most every Sunday and had the most beautiful sining voice. She was an avid Kentucky Wildcats and Raceland Rams fan. She enjoyed sewing, reading her bible, watching game shows, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

She married Dr. John Wheelersburg on June 7, 1974 and they remained married until her death. They were in love through their whole marriage and enjoyed doing things with each other. She will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years Dr. John Craig Wheelersburg, 5 children Gail Nelson of Greenup, Ky, Jacob “Jake” (Stephanie) Wheelersburg of Raceland, Ky, Christopher “Chris” (Lynn) Wheelersburg of Worthington, Ky, Phillip “Phil” Wheelersburg of Wurtland, Ky, and Betty Hall of Flatwoods, Ky, 12 grandchildren Ryan (Kayla) Nelson, Angela “Angie” (Samuel “Sam”) Coffee, Chase Wheelersburg, James “Jim” (Alexandria) Wheelersburg, Jason Wheelersburg, Allison “Ally” Hall, Susan “Susie” Wheelersburg, Samuel “Sammy” Wheelersburg, Makayla Wheelersburg, Timothy “Timmy” Wheelersburg, Seth Hall, and Darlene Wheelersburg, 6 great grandchildren Henry Coffee, Kaylee Wheelersburg, Elijah Coffee, Bryson Coffee, Toby Nelson, and Ayden Wheelersburg, a sister Patricia “Patty” Trevor of Greenup, Ky, special friends Karen Prater of Raceland, Ky, Lydia Norman of Raceland, Ky, Paula Harris of Flatwoods, Ky, Melinda (Rocky) Adams of Russell, Ky, and Patricia “Pat” (Kenneth “Ken”) Lewis of Flatwoods, Ky, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday January 5, 2020 at The Fred Wheelersburg Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Donald “Donnie” Richendollar officiating. Graveside services will be live streamed via Facebook Live.

Visitation will be held Monday January 4, 2020 at Wheelersburg Family Funeral Home from 7-9 PM. 
Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Wheelersburg, Chris Wheelersburg, Phil Wheelersburg, Chase Wheelersburg, Jason Wheelersburg, Sammy Wheelersburg, and Sam Coffee.
