Rose Neiss

December 27, 1944 - December 26, 2022

Rose Neiss, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on December 26, 2022, after a brief illness. She was 77 years old.

Grandma Rose, as most called her, was born in Queens, New York on December 27, 1944. She is preceded in death by her parents; Anthony Zahn and Rose Marie (née Gualtiere), her sister Ann Bensavage and brother Anthony Zahn, Jr.

Rose is survived by her husband, Donald Neiss, her four children; Donald Bergquist (spouse Lori), Staryl Desiderio (spouse Michael), Richard Bergquist (spouse Cindy deceased), Steven Bergquist (spouse Lili), her six grandchildren; Melissa Rose Baccari, Jason Bergquist, Rose Bergquist-Santiago, Jennifer Bergquist, Michelle Bergquist, Michael Bergquist and her niece and nephew; Annie Kuinlan and Anthony Zahn, III.

Rose was a long-time resident of Suffolk County, New York. She devoted her life to her family right to the very end. She was the main caregiver to her husband suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. After raising her four children alone, she helped raise two of her grandchildren after the loss of their mother. She was a faithful and dedicated Catholic who drew strength from daily prayer, reading her Bible and volunteering at her church. She always believed in the Lord’s will. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Rose’s Funeral Home, 1705 5th Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held at 10:45 AM at the Church of Saint Mary, 20 Harrison Avenue and internment at North babylon cemetery livingston Ave north babylon, NY.
