Rose's obituary
Rose Elettra Martini Frampton passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025. A woman of deep faith, Rose was a devoted believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her life was a radiant reflection of that conviction. If you knew Rose, you knew her favorite words were often “it’s a GOD thing…”
Born on September 21, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, Rose was the only child of Lino Trova Martini, originally from Piacenza, Italy, and Pauline Johanna Engelbart, affectionately known as “Nonney,” a second-generation American from Heidelberg, Germany.
Growing up in her father’s restaurant in downtown Chicago, Rose was immersed in an adult world from a young age. At 10, she moved with her parents to California, where Lino owned the Lone Yucca Motel in Victorville. She would go around each room, making the beds daily. By age 15, the family settled in Upland, California, and Rose graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario in 1955.
Rose pursued her passion for dental care at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, earning a degree in Dental Hygiene in 1959. It was there she met Dick Frampton, a dental student. After graduation, Rose served as part-time faculty at USC’s School of Dentistry for a decade. She and Dick married in 1961 and built a life together in Woodland Hills, California, where she practiced dental hygiene in his office for 40 years until his retirement.
Following that chapter, the couple relocated to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, then to Paradise, California, and finally to Palm Desert, California. They celebrated 49 years of marriage before Dick’s passing in 2010. Rose continued her dental hygiene career in each community, dedicating 56 years to the profession before retiring in 2015 in Palm Desert.
Family was the heart of Rose’s life. She and Dick raised two sons: Richard, born in 1966, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Douglas, born in 1969, a graduate of UC Riverside. Their home—with its welcoming pool and dining room table—was a gathering place for all.
Rose loved to entertain, and “family together” was her way of life. Though she often noted she had no siblings, she felt blessed by God with lifelong friends who filled that role—dental hygiene classmates and patients from her early years remained close throughout her life.
Rose was a natural “people person.” Friends of her sons affectionately called her “Mom,” a testament to her warmth and openness. Her commitment to service shone brightly in her community involvement: she served as President of the WestHills Baseball Auxiliary, was active at El Camino Real High School, and remained engaged with University of Southern California affairs long after graduation.
Rose is survived by her son Richard, his twin children Lino and Genevieve, and Wendy Van Ryn and her sons Isaac and Josiah; her son Douglas and Alexandra Baron; and countless others who cherished her as a dear friend.
