Rose's obituary
We regret to announce the passing of Rose Battista on October 2, 2024. Born on October 30, 1935, Rose graced this world with warmth, kindness, and a love that was unrivaled. A firm believer in God, compassion and selflessness, Rose left behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her dear ones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Battista; her loving mother, Elizabeth Louise Rentz; her caring father, Anthony Sorletti; and her dear sister, Genevieve Bartenope. She navigated through life's journey with grace, and their memories always held a special place in her heart.
Rose found immense joy and solace in her family. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Austin and son-in-law, David Austin; her brother, George Sorletti, nephew Tony Sorletti; her sister, Marie Sorletti, and many loving family members of her late husband, Furthermore, she was the loving grandmother to Alexa, Katelyn, and Natalie Austin,
Rose’s life was characterized by her profound and vocal love for her granddaughters. Whether it was playing games, doing art, shopping, listening to them tell her all about their day, or cheering them on in their sport, spending time with her granddaughters was the highlight of her day; from walks in the park to sharing stories, Rose's love knew no bounds. Her granddaughters loved their time with “Mimi”, a testament to the deeply rooted bond they shared.
Rose, an avid reader, held a special place in her heart for novels by James Patterson. She read her Bible, devotionals, and wrote in her journal daily. Her love for music was evident in her taste - the classics of Elvis and the profound rhythms of Big Band music. She was a regular viewer of the TV Show Blue Bloods and held It’s A Wonderful Life as her favorite movie. Broadway musicals were her preferred performances, encapsulating the grandeur she enjoyed.
Deeply committed to the cause of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Rose's compassion extended beyond her immediate family. Her preference for the color lilac was reflective of her personality - subtle, warm, and comforting. Rose was a woman who epitomized love, kindness, generosity, patience, and humility. Above all, she held steadfast in the belief that no act of love, however small, is ever wasted. She had a true servant’s heart and a gentle spirit.
As we bid farewell to Rose, we carry with us her legacy of kindness, compassion, and selflessness. The world was undoubtedly a better place for having had her.
