Background
Thank you so much for everyone's support during this difficult time. As most of you know, Roscoe passed away on 1/28/25. Roscoe was such a bright soul, caring for everyone he knew. Honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps, receiving multiple medals and awards after serving in the Vietnam war. He spoke proudly about his time in the service and in numerous occasions made his final wishes be known, which was to be buried. Laid to rest.
Upon his passing Pawpaw, as I called him, was married and did in fact carry a life insurance policy, not a big one. But a policy that was enough to cover his burial expenses. However, his spouse pushed consistently for cremation, against his well known wishes along with other arrangements Roscoe would not have agreed with. After his passing his body was moved & held at a funeral home in Macon until the life insurance payment came in the mail.
But let me tell you, Roscoe was loved so much, his family fought to be heard in front of a judge. And today Pawpaw won. His son was granted rights of disposition of remains.. which in our terms, means we can finally lay Roscoe to rest. However, the spouse is keeping the life insurance payment and not contributing to any of the burial costs whatsoever. Now, here we are in the predicament that we are..
He will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery where the plot, headstone and marker are provided along with him receiving the military honors but the costs of owed to one funeral home for transportation of the body from the hospital to their location & a different funeral home (that is assisting us for a way lower cost) for the casket, transportation and other miscellaneous costs lie on the family.
We are asking for prayers and any kind of donation you could afford and if you aren’t in a position to help then that is perfectly fine, your prayers are more than appreciated and needed!
We thank you so much and again are asking for prayers during this time more than anything. Contribute
