Rosaria's obituary
With deep love and gratitude, the family of Rosaria Aceto announces her peaceful passing at the age of 94, on June 3, 2025, in Cambridge, Ontario.
Born on October 2, 1930, in Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, to Eugenio and Vincenzina Pincente, the 11th of 13 children.
As a young woman, she journeyed to South Africa to assist an older brother who had settled there in raising his young child. Her family back in Italy arranged for her to marry Salvatore Aceto, a young man from a nearby village, and he joined her there. They began a life together that included two children before immigrating to Canada in the 1960s where she spent the rest of her life. Three more children arrived before the devastating loss of her third child, Roberto, to leukaemia in 1970. Sadly, Rosaria also lost her first-born, Mario, in 2016. Her deep spiritual conviction, dedication to her family, and steadfast hope in a better future enabled her to continue forward.
Rosaria was a woman of quiet strength who had a deep trust in God’s promises. She found joy in simple things, including preparing meals for her family and offering quiet encouragement to others.
She was predeceased by her husband Salvatore and her cherished sons Roberto and Mario. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Carlo, Annamaria (David), and Aldo (Rosanna); by her daughter-in-law Roseanna; by her grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Noah, Kathryn, Julia, and their partners; by her great-grandchildren: Miles, Lilly, and a new baby expected this month; and by the members of her large extended family; each of whom brought her joy and comfort.
Her hope in the resurrection and in a peaceful future on earth was the foundation of her life, and she fell asleep with confidence in the One who gave her that promise.
The family wishes to thank all those who have offered support and kindness during this time, including: the doctors and nurses at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, the staff at the Sunnyside seniors’ program, the staff at Queen’s Square Retirement Home, the members of her Hespeler congregation, and long-time PSW and friend, Carmen.
A celebration of Rosaria’s life will be held at a later date, likely in September 2025. Updates will be shared when they are available.
May her hope live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
