Rosalyn's obituary
Rosalyn Cathie, 71, of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022.
Rosalyn was born on March 17, 1951 to Maurice and Rowena Cathie in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After graduating from Atlantic City high school in 1969. In 1969, she met Ronald Brown, and they wed in 1970, going on to have two children, Tameka Brown and Sekinah Brown.
When Rosalyn had Tameka Brown, she decided to dedicate her life to being a devoted mother. Rosalyn attended Stockton State College while working for the United States Post Office. In 1989 She fulfilled her life-long dream of relocating to California where she discovered her new church home, West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, California. During her tenor there she cheerfully served as a Greeter and A Sunday School Aide. In 2014 Rosalyn became the proud Grandmother and excelled at supporting Sekinah with her one and only grandchild, Joyelle. Rosalyn relocated to Atlanta where she committed to becoming a devoted loving grandmother. Rosalyn enjoyed spending time with her friends and family while helping others in need. She dedicated her time to caring for her mother and her two of her elderly aunts before they transitioned. We will miss her greatly.
Rosalyn was predeceased by her father, Maurice Cathie, her mother Rowena Cathie and her beloved Aunt Barbara Woodo. She is survived by her daughters, Tameka and Sekinah Brown, granddaughter, Joyelle Coach, her sister Rene Mason and her brother in-law Marvin Mason along with a host of nieces, cousins and extended family members and friends.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 1656 Stokes Avenue, Southwest Atlanta, Georgia 30310. There will be a Celebration of life in March 2023 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Once we lock down a location, we will add the details.
