Rosalie's obituary

The world grew quieter and a little less bright on February 21, 2026, as Rosalie “Rosie” Vida (née Beausoleil) rejoined the love of her life in the hereafter. A woman of rare grace and infinite compassion, Rosie moved through life as a quiet force for good, leaving an indelible mark on every soul she encountered.

In the summer of 1989, Rosalie wed her soulmate, Marc. Together, they wove a tapestry of family life defined by a radical, open-hearted generosity. Though she now returns to the embrace of her beloved husband, her son Whitacre (Witt), and her grandparents Lucien (Ingrid) Beausoleil and Roland (Astrid) Kerr, her light remains reflected in those she leaves behind.

Her memory is cherished and carried forward by her children: Michael (Cassie) Vida-Beausoleil, Fenrir Vida-Beausoleil, Aiden Vida-Beausoleil, Braeden Vida-Beausoleil, and Dr. Freya Vida-Beausoleil; her grandchildren: Addison, Emory, and Luciano; and her parents: Odinn Kerr and Ysabeau Beausoleil.

Known for her soft and gentle nature, Rosie was admired by many. She possessed a singular gift: the ability to see the "hidden gold" in every person. She was a sanctuary for the broken and a champion for the marginalized. Rosie’s greatest pride was her children; she raised them to be the living embodiment of her values—kindness, resilience, and a deep reverence for the dignity of others.

Her hands were rarely still, as she dedicated her life to the service of others through Literacy Matters, The Bowery Mission, and the American Brain Foundation. To Rosie, service wasn't a duty; it was a calling, and one she passed on to her children. Even in her absence, her influence persists through this unwavering generosity. In honor of her life-long mission to uplift others and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Children's Defense Fund.
