Rosa Linda's obituary

Rosa Linda Gomez Caballero Kroum, 69, passed away in Silverdale, Washington, on Saturday, July 22, 2023, surrounded by family.  Swift mercy was bestowed upon her by God who released her from heart complications and peacefully sent her home with "the angelitos".  Through it all, she remained steadfast in her faith, positivity, and light.

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Linda is preceded in death by her parents Carlos Trinidad Gomez and Maria de Jesus Vallejo Gomez, as well as her first-born grandson, Daniel Corey Gonzales.

Linda is survived by her husband of 31 years, Donovan “Van” Kroum.  She lived her best life in the Pacific Northwest with Van, the love of her life. Their extraordinary love and devotion blossomed and grew over the years, becoming more beautiful with each season.  She is also survived by; her daughters, Elsa Noemi Gonzales, Margarita “Daisy” Killpack, and Dolores Eaton; her sons, Gonzalo Caballero, Jr. and Brett Donovan Kroum; her sisters, Maria Stella Cox and Vera Dickerson; ten grandchildren (whom she absolutely cherished and doted over); and many close family and friends.

Linda was a professional storyteller and speaker.  She loved to share stories of her childhood, retelling interesting stories she heard from others and tales from her favorite books.  She loved books so much!!  Linda encouraged others to read, conducted book drives, and often gave books as gifts.  She loved reading to children and teaching them how to read.  She always emphasized to her own grandchildren the importance of Family and Education for the betterment of the world.

Linda attended Thomas Jefferson High School in El Paso and was a proud member of the class of 1971 Silver Fox Alumni. After high school, Linda looked for every opportunity to be of service to others.  She became a social worker, a teacher, a Girl Scout Leader, a parent volunteer, a community volunteer, a voice against domestic violence, an advocate for women and children, a voice for LGBTQIA+ rights, a voice for suicide prevention and suicide awareness, a mental health advocate, and she was popular on social media for her daily positive contributions.

Linda loved animals, flowers, clean jokes, and coffee. Ladybugs and Elephants were her favorite.  If she found out your favorite things, she would remember them and send you images or sayings about those things.  She would send thoughtful notes to people, just in hopes of brightening their day.  Linda took great pride in helping others and gave all her love to her community and everyone she knew.  She will be tremendously missed by all.

After a Memorial in Washington on August 11th, Linda will be laid to rest in her hometown of El Paso, Texas.
