Rory's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Rory Bernard Schulz, a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. Rory was born on July 1st, 1975, in Tacoma, WA. He was the cherished son of Judy and Smokey (Bernard) Schulz and brother to Kevin, Kyle, and Erin Schulz.
Rory attended All Saints School and graduated from Rogers High School and Pierce College. Though his career led him to sales, where he thrived with his natural charm, Rory’s heart was always full of curiosity and a love for new adventures.
He found joy in making others laugh and treasured time spent with family and friends. Cooking was one of his great passions, and he delighted in preparing meals that brought people together. Rory’s adventurous spirit took him around the world. His recent travels brought him to New Zealand, where he reconnected with an old friend, sand-surfed, and visited iconic Lord of the Rings sites. He held a deep affection for the Māori people he befriended. Rory also found joy in Australia, where he made many lasting connections and dreamed of returning one day.
Rory’s Irish heritage was something he held dear, and he was excitedly in the process of obtaining his Irish passport, looking forward to the opportunities and adventures that lay ahead. In Bali, he had begun working on starting a small business, exploring new possibilities and ways to enrich his life.
His love for animals, especially the many dogs he cared for throughout his life, was a constant source of happiness for him.
Though he never kissed the Blarney Stone, Rory didn’t need to—his "gift of the gab" made him a natural at connecting with others. He always had a story to share, a laugh to give, and a warmth that drew people to him.
Rory will be remembered for his kind heart, his humor, and the way his laughter could light up any room. He leaves behind countless memories and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
