Ronnie's obituary

Ronnie Lewis Smith, 75, of Plainfield, Indiana, passed away on October 22, 2024. Born on May 13, 1949, in Greensburg, Indiana, he was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather. He was a hard-working and dedicated man who spent 35 years working as a Quality Manager for Honeycomb Products in Indianapolis, Indiana. Among his colleagues he was known for his attention to detail, approachability, leadership, and sense of humor. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family who remained his number one priority.

After retiring in 2021 you could find him playing his favorite Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard songs on one of his numerous guitars, working on home improvements, relaxing with his beloved dogs Toby, Max, and Winston, or spending time with his family. His ability to play music is a quality that lives on in his children who both share that ability and the enjoyment it brings. Both children were a part of the Ben Davis Marching Giants whom he and his wife Mildred adored. Ronnie spent several years helping design and build props for the band where he became a well-known and adored member of the band family. He adored his grandsons Trenton, Cole, and Garrett who always provided him with a good laugh. Laughing is something that came natural to him, as his sense of humor was a large part of who he was. He was a man who was known for his immense amount of generosity, kindness, and integrity. Qualities that left a lasting impact on everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Elizabeth Smith, sisters Mary Jo and Annabelle, brother Jerry, and his beloved wife Mildred. He is survived by his son Robert Smith, daughter Jessica(Drew) Patton, and grandsons Trenton, Cole, and Garrett.
