The family of Ronald J. Wertz announces with a heavy heart, that our beloved father and grandfather went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2022.  Ron, a resident of Elwell, MI for the last 25 years, was born on July 7, 1935.   On April 22 1953 Ron married Carol Wertz. Ron and Carol shared 67 years of marriage, 7 children, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Ron loved the outdoors and spent many hours keeping his lawn and gardens immaculate. He loved taking walks and enjoyed nature. He also loved woodworking and spent many hours making an assortment of crafts and gifts for those he loved. Ron worked for Lobdell Emery for 40 years and upon his retirement, he and Carol spent winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He is survived by his children, Linda (Joseph) Cowdrey, Michael (Melaine) Wertz, Beverly (Dale) Shankel, Kathryn (Donn) Brown, Sandra (David) Garcia, Suzanne Strong, David (Bridgett) Wertz, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol, his sister Lucille, brothers Dewey and Clare, his mother and father Otto and Florence, daughter in law Ellen Wertz and son in law Arlin Strong.   

A memorial service will be held for Ron on January 15, 2022 at 12:00pm at the Lincoln Road United Methodist Church in Riverdale.
