Ronald's obituary
With deepest sorrow, we announce that Ronald Sparks, age 78, our most beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, Nov 25, 2025.
Born in 1946 to the late Elvin Sparks and Katherine (Kitty) Jones Sparks, Ron led a life full of passion and genuine kindness. He spent his youth in Mobile, Alabama, where he graduated from Davidson High School in 1965. He carried with him the spirit of his hometown throughout his life, always embodying the warmth and charm of the south. A true southern gentleman.
In 1997, Ron married the love of his life, Carolyn Sparks, forging a bond of unwavering love that will remain unbroken even in his absence. Together, they navigated the ups and downs of life, always supporting each other with steadfast dedication. Ron is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sparks, his children Kirk (Shannon) Sparks, Kacey Sparks, stepchildren Kristin (Bart) Harris, Casey Keller, Justin (Jess) Keller, his sisters, Lisa (Robert) Milliron and Donna Kay (Ben) Dietz, and his brothers, Robert (Kathy) and Steve (Wendy) Sparks. He was a beloved grandfather to Emily and Austin McMahon, Hattie and Kora Harris, and Kodi and Kash Keller. The pride he held for his family was boundless and his legacy will continue through them.
Following high school graduation, Ron studied business and finance at UT Arlington and served 6 years in Marine Corps. His career spanned more than three decades as a finance manager in car, boat and motorcycle dealerships—a role he truly loved. Over the years, he served at respected businesses across central and north Texas including Willis Oldsmobile, Graff Chevrolet, David McDavid Pontiac, Classic Chevrolet, Phil Dill Boats, and Dream Machines of Texas. Whether helping first-time buyers or long-time customers, he took pride in offering guidance with honesty and care, forming lasting relationships along the way.
He had a variety of interests, including cars, boating, shooting pool, and gambling. Ron was also a lifelong supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, so if you needed to find him on some Thursdays, Sundays or Mondays in the fall, he was likely watching football in his recliner. Ron was best described as quiet and calm, with an easy-going nature and a humorous spirit. His loved ones will fondly recall his joking ways. Ron also had a unique connection with cats, one that either matched his wife’s love for them or showcased his expert tolerance of them. His favorite cat, Cotton, was often found by his side, whether they were watching football together or taking a nap. Ron will always be remembered for his loving nature, his calming influence, and his playful humor. He leaves behind a legacy of love and chuckles that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Ron Sparks was a beacon of light in this world and he will be profoundly missed. His spirit will forever be a part of each life he touched. Although we are saddened by his departure, we take comfort in knowing his life was filled with love and great moments of joy. To our dear Ron, may your soul rest in peace and may your jokes never be forgotten.
