Ronald's obituary
Ronald Michael Neff of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born in Grosse Point Farms, Michigan, on October 4, 1943, Ron was the son of Ronald Frederick & Ninna Carroll Neff. Ron’s legacy lives on through his wife of 47 years Julie, his son Chris, married to Grace, and his daughter Eileen, as well as his beloved grandchildren Jaycee, Crosby, and Finn.
Ron graduated from Ishpeming High School, Ishpeming, Michigan in 1962 and quickly after graduation, Ron answered the call to duty and joined the United States Navy in 1962. Over the course of a distinguished 26-year career, he traveled the world, building lasting friendships along the way. Ron's commitment, leadership, and integrity earned him the rank of Chief Petty Officer, a title he held with great pride when he retired in 1988. He received numerous medals including Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Humanitarian Service, Antarctic Service, and the Navy Unit Commendation.
Following his military service, Ron continued his commitment to serving others by working as a Control Room Officer at the Snohomish County Corrections in Everett, Washington where he retired in 2008.
Ron and Julie raised their family in Washington state, where Ron shared his love of the outdoors. Fishing trips with family were among his happiest moments. In 2019, seeking a break from the rainy Pacific Northwest, Ron and Julie moved to San Antonio, Texas.
Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial will take place on May 18th in Edmonds.
