Randy's obituary

Ronald "Randy" Mathias II, of Ohio, was born on August 23, 1958, to Ronald and Mary Jane Mathias. He passed away on May 24, 2024, in Spring Grove, IL, surrounded by his loved ones after bravely battling cancer.

Randy was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 38 years, Donna Mathias. Together, they raised a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories. His children, Matthew, Cody, and Allyson, meant the world to him. He took great pride in being a supportive father, guiding them through life's challenges and celebrating their successes. Randy was also a beloved son, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. His presence brought joy and light into the lives of all who knew him.

Marriage was just one of the many roles Randy excelled in. He was deeply involved in his community, dedicating his time to various organizations and causes. Randy's passion for sports led him to coach his children in a range of activities, from T-ball to iceless hockey. He volunteered as a bowling coach for local high school teams, fostering a love for the sport in young athletes. Randy's commitment extended beyond sports as he served on school boards and participated in community initiatives. His impact was felt far and wide, leaving a lasting legacy of service and compassion.

One of Randy's most remarkable qualities was his immense heart. He had a gift for spreading joy and laughter wherever he went. His infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving a trail of smiles in his wake. Randy's genuine kindness and sense of humor endeared him to all who crossed his path. He will be remembered for his unwavering positivity and ability to uplift those around him.

Randy is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Mathias. He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Matthew (Yvette and Ava) and Cody (Katrina); daughter, Allyson (Chris); father, Ronald; brother-in-law, Jack Haas; nephew, Alex Haas and wife MacKenzie, along with great-nephew Mason Haas; cousin, Vallie Prorok and husband Donald Prorok; cousin, Tonda Sims and husband Scott Sims; and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry on his memory with love and admiration.

In lieu of a funeral, the family is holding a Celebration of Life to honor the love Randy shared with all he met. The Celebration will be held from 1pm-6pm on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at Lake's Bowl - Sharky's, 601 Railroad Ave, Round Lake, IL.
