Ronald Gyllenhammer
July 27, 1960 – March 9, 2025
Ronald Gyllenhammer, 64, of Broad Brook, Connecticut, passed away on March 9, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by family and smiling until the end. Born in Waterbury on July 27, 1960, Ron had a lifelong passion for mineralogy, dedicating much of his time to studying and collecting mineral specimens from around the world. His curiosity and love of discovery were evident in everything he did.
Ron shared many years with his love and longtime significant other, Diane Stone of Broad Brook, CT. The love they shared was an inspiration to all.
Ron was a loving father to Derek (Katherine), Brittany, and Rachel, whom he shared with his first wife, Nancy (Moreau). He was affectionately known as "Pops" by his beloved grandchildren: Charles, Robert, Evelyn, Grace, and an eagerly awaited grandson on the way.
Ron was deeply involved in his community and his faith. For several years, he found peace and comfort serving as a lector at St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks, where the services will be held in his memory. He was a dedicated Little League Baseball and Soccer coach, an amateur artist, and also enjoyed regaling his family with theories about quantum mechanics and scientific phenomena.
He is survived by his siblings, Edmund (Janet), Robyn Floria (Dean), and Erik (Karen), as well as his cherished nieces and nephews: John, David, Stephen, Amanda, Thomas, Charlotte, Emily, Will, and Gus.
He was predeceased by his parents, John E. Gyllenhammer and Sandra V. (Haddad) Gyllenhammer, his uncle and namesake, Ronald Haddad, his beautiful aunt, Elaine Longo (Haddad), and his uncle Edmund and Doris Gyllenhammer. They are all together now.
Ron will be remembered for his keen intellect, his deep appreciation for the natural world, and the kindness he showed to those around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family who will carry his memory forward.
A wake will be held at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Gate of Heaven Parish in Windsor Locks, CT, in his honor.
