One of the best things my father did in his life was be a great dad to Karen and me. I can't count the things he taught me. Virtually everything I know about sports I learned from my dad. He taught us to work hard and persist. He was a stickler for education and I have heard other family members say "You don't want to mess with the Duggan's when it comes to school and education" referring to my dad. Sitting down and making flash cards to study with, retaking classes in summer school that I mistakenly decided were unimportant the first time around were all life lessons I am now thankful for (not as much at the time when I was arriving at summer school at 7am ).
Not only did he teach Karen and me to ski, he taught hundreds of Reno area children the joy of skiing. Karen and I were able to pass this on to our children to create countless family memories full of conversation and story telling and one on one time with our children. He watched every soccer practice and game I had without fail offering constructive criticism to make me the best I could be.
We went to Gonzaga basketball games for 20 or so years and every year spoke of whether this was their year to win a national championship. The first thing I think of these days when I have an accomplishment or some exciting news is I can't wait to tell my dad about this.
He was stubborn and, at times, curiously acerbic and this was part of his charm. He loved his grandchildren and they all knew he was their biggest fan. He enjoyed reveling in the successes of his children and grandchildren and would tell everyone who would listen about it.
We will all miss you dad and you will remain in our hearts forever. Love you, Dad. Until we see each other again.

Always with a big smile on his face, Grandpa Ron walked to the beat of his own drum. He loved his family so deeply and was so proud of even our smallest accomplishments. We will miss Grandpa Ron so much but know that he is at peace and taking care of all of us from up above.

Ron was such a unique person. The more I got to know and understand him, the more I enjoyed him. His love for his kids and grandkids was at the center of who he was. I will miss talking to him about Gonzaga basketball and Notre Dame football as his knowledge was amazing. Such a special person- he will be missed.
