Ronald Drakes Jr., age 51, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026. He was born on April 16, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, to Desmona Bickham and Ronald Drakes Sr.

A man of unwavering strength, Ronald was renowned for his work ethic, spending countless hours ensuring the well-being of his family and friends. His life was a testament to diligent labor and loving relationships. He was known for his humor, a trait that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ronald was a caring and compassionate individual who desired peace and love in his family and community. His warm and engaging personality served as a beacon of light.

Ronald was educated in the school of life, and his accomplishments were measured not in certificates or awards, but in the love and respect of those around him. His greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Desmona Bickham and Ronald Drakes Sr. Ronald leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion in his surviving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donita; his daughters Carissa, Alexis, Ronaiya, Isabella, and Ty’Shanti; his sons Ty’Ron, Ronald, and Jerome; numerous grandchildren, and a host of brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Service arrangements will honor Ronald's life and legacy in a manner befitting his spirit. His brothers and sons will serve as pallbearers, while his grandchildren will assist with flowers. In a final, touching tribute, his daughters will ride in a horse carriage with their beloved father one last time.

In line with Ronald's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held in Kingston, Jamaica, in the summer. This family reunion event will serve as a fitting tribute to a man who placed family at the heart of everything he did.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ronald's name. This gesture would honor his life-long commitment to love, peace, and community.
