Ronald's obituary
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. Ronald Dorler Sr., who entered eternal rest on June 13, 2025. Ronald was born on Oct 1, 1937, to his late father, Edward Dorler and Mary Helen Bourgeois. Known for his quick wit, his warmth, his spirited singing, and his phenomenal business acumen, Ronald was certainly one who loved life in its fullest sense.
Ronald's remarkable life story was an inspiration to many. It was a true rags-to-riches tale. Despite coming from quite humble beginnings, Ronald was a self-made man who owned six successful businesses starting in 1960. His determination and aptitude for hard work were an embodiment of his life's mantra - stand on your own two feet and pull yourself up by your bootstraps.
In 1953, showing his sense of duty and courage, Ronald served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. His leadership traits were soon recognized in the world of politics when he was elected as the Mayor of Portland, Maine in 1987, following two successful terms as a city councilman.
Across the span of the 60s, Ronald was blessed with four beautiful children. His legacy continues through his children, Laurie Glover, Scott Dorler, and Ronald Dorler Jr. They remember him as a lodestar guiding them through life, always encouraging them to be the good and decent individuals they are today.
Ronald was also a proud grandfather to Ashley, Amelia, Maisie Tucker, Justin, Jason, and Sebastian Dorler. His joy and pride in their accomplishments knew no bounds. His memory will continue to live on in their hearts.
His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. We will miss his gregarious nature, his singing, his stories, and most importantly, his indomitable spirit. The legacy left behind by Ronald Dorler Sr. echoes the truth that it's not just the life that one lives, but also the difference one makes in the lives of others that really counts.
