A beautiful tribute to a beautiful guy. Ron was my friend always. I lived across the street from him in Cranford and we were always good companions. We played hockey together along with every other sport one could name. He was one of the best natural athletes I ever knew.
More than all that he was a good guy with a good heart. I'm really quite sad by this news of his passing. Ron will always be in my mind and heart.

Thank you to the individual or group of people who so lovingly took the time to share all of whom Ron DeLonge is (yes, I feel his spirit still among us). Heard this name often in the Wait household growing up. He was in my older sister Sue’s CHS Class of 1969, but I was class of ‘71 and might have had a DeLonge in my class.
My Dad was an avid NY Rangers fan and ice hockey was most revered sport in our home. My 4 yr younger brother John played CHS Ice Hockey (I believe - I was in college then).
Seems as though Ron was a person who was also true to himself, as an individual. He would chose logic (make empty ice available) rather than rules. Makes much sense to me. I read this after the fact of the Celebration of Life. Condolences to all family and friends, a great man gone to soon…but it seemed like he chose to live his life fully.

what a wonderfully written tribute to Ron's life. i was lucky to be his teammate 5 years with the Cranford Hockey Club. not only was he the best goalie i ever played with, he was also the best leader i ever new. Ron would saunter into the locker room before a game against some high octane team like Hill School or Lawrenceville and tap everbody with his goalie stick and mention them by nickname. we always played on the road and the opponents and their fans would be laying in wait to try and knock off "that team with no rink". Ron would then go out and make 50 or 60 saves and give us a shot at winning 1 to nothing or 2-1. He played varsity goalie from 7th grade on. not many years back i was able to get him out for a couple of over-60 and over-70 tournaments that often include a few former NHL guys. our team immediately fell in love with Ron. our players all knew another Cranford legend (Bill Plummer), and marveled how Cranford could turn out two cut from a similar mold. i wont ever forget Ron

My condolences to family and friends. I played football with Ron in 1968 at Cranford High and remember him as a great guy and the best athlete I had the privilege of playing with. Rest in Peace Ron.

I got to know Ron at Reel-Strong Fuel Co. He taught me the tricks of the trade, delivering fuel oil. Easy going and never upset. He was a hard worker who loved being outside. Had not talked to him for a long time but always remembered things about him when the snow was falling and how happy he was being out there working.
