Romeo and Juliet's obituary

“These violent delights have violent ends

And in their triump die, like fire and powder Which, as they kiss, consume”

Yesterday, the 19th of July 1413,  Romeo-the heir to the house of Montague- was found lifeless next to his lover and wife, Juliet, the only daughter of Lord Capulet. The Verona times and the community of Verona sadly announce our forever mourning for the young lovers.

Romeo has always thought of himself as a romantic. When he was just sixteen, he fell in love with Rosaline. This relationship hurt Romeo and made him depressed because Rosaline didn't like her back. Romeo spent hours wandering around the forest, passing time and thinking about Rosaline. Finally, his cousin, Benvolio, convinced him to go to a Capulet party and see if that would take his mind off of Rosaline.

This party was the turning point of Romeo's life. This party is where he met his beloved Juliet and fell in love. Juliet was an innocent and beautiful young girl who devoted her life to Romeo. The day after the party, Friar Lawrence secretly married the two lovers.

Romeo was always an intelligent, respectful boy. Even his father's enemy of that time, Lord Capulet, respected and welcomed him to his party. Romeo was never the first to draw his sword and rarely resorted to violence. But when Tybalt mercilessly killed his friend, Mercutio, Romeo was enraged and slew Tybalt.

Romeo got exiled to Mantua for avenging his friend, and Lord Capulet forcefully married Juliet to the powerful, promising young man, Paris. Before the day of their marriage, Juliet was able to talk to Friar Lawrence and make a plan with him. This plan would put Juliet to sleep and trick everyone into thinking she was dead. This way, she would sneak out of her tomb after the burial and be together with Romeo.

Sadly, the plan actually tricked everyone. Including Romeo. He didn't get the message Friar had sent about the plan. When he returned from Mantua with the news that Juliet had died, he didn't want to live in a world where his wife and lover didn't exist. He drank the poison that he got from Mantua and died. The watchmen believe that Juliet woke up a mere 15 minutes after Romeo's death and felt the same way Romeo did when he thought Juliet was dead. After further analysis, it was found that Juliet had some poison on her lips, but it wasn't enough to kill her. Verona's beautiful young girl killed herself with his husband's dagger. Romeo and Juliet's death had a reason; their death ended the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets.

Romeo and Juliet were romantics; they always will be. Now they're romantics in heaven.
