Romelia's obituary
Romelia “Romie” Zepeda Cervantes, 77, passed into the Lord’s hands on October 10, 2022. She was born in Del Rio, Texas on December 3, 1944. Romelia was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Carmen Zepeda, brother Sonny Zepeda and sister Ana Esquivel.
Romelia is survived by her husband, Antonio “Tony” Cervantes Jr., her children Sylvia Macias (Carlos), Joe Molini, Debbie Molini, Juan Vasquez (Rocio), Amy Bendo; step children Lori Cervantes and Antonio Cervantes III; her grandchildren, Katrina, Karissa, Amy, Marc, Christina, Jacob, Victoria, Alex, Gabrielle, Julian, Jeremy Blake, Whitney Shay, Breck Aaron, Markus Anthony, Jaylen Mikeal, Michael, Antonio Alexander, Isabel Marie; and great grandchildren Destiny, Elijah, and Leslie Joyce.
Romelia married her husband, Antonio Cervantes Jr. on October 12, 1991 and they were married for 31 loving years. Together they shared a love for trucking across the US, old western movies, classic country, and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
Romelia had a passion and talent for sewing, quilting, and gardening and would extend her gratitude through making sewn textiles for others. If there was any life event or if she just simply loved you, she made you a quilt. Her giving nature was felt in any capacity she could manifest- from tamales during Christmastime, homemade flour tortillas for Saturday breakfasts, or extending quality time to others. She had a heart for the families and children receiving treatment at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and was a committed sponsor for years.
Romelia is known for her smile that warmed everyone in the spirit of friendship. She was a hardworking woman with an energetic personality. She loved dancing and having a good time and lived each day with as much fun as she could.
Traveling and making memories with the love of her life, Tony, and spending time with her family were her ultimate joys. She always cooked fresh, delicious meals and hosted all holidays for the family. She never let anyone go home without a full stomach and happy heart. She cared for her husband, family, grandchildren, and extended family and welcomed friends as if they were her own family.
