Roland's obituary

Roland Tillman Jarvis, 84, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2026.

Born on July 3, 1941 in Norfolk, Va.

Roland was a graduate of Great Bridge High School, 1959.

He enlisted in the Air Force as a mechanic, 1959-1965.

Roland married, Shirley White in 1968. They were married for 23 years building a family to include a son, Ronnie Jarvis, and daughter, Anita Scheetz.

Roland was a Charter Member and Decan of Great Bridge Free Will Baptist Church.

He retired from the International Longshoreman Association.

Roland married Carole Widmer in 1996. Roland and Carole were married for 30 years enjoying retirement and all the joys of life and many friends in, The Villages, Florida. Roland was a loving spouse, dad, PopPop, and friend. He found great joy in woodworking, flying miniature airplanes, gardening, playing cards, archery, eating ice cream and Oreo's.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Mildred Jarvis, brother, Johnnie Jarvis Jr, and loving sister, Ann Daubenspeck.

Roland is survived by wife, Carole Jarvis, previous wife, Shirley Tippit, son, Ronnie Jarvis, daughter, Anita Scheetz, her husband, Jeremy Scheetz and two granddaughters, Kayla Shae and Madison Gayle Scheetz.

Roland will be remembered for his kind heart, hard work ethic, willingness to help, cute crooked smile, gentle laugh, and his love for his Faith, Family, Friends, and Freedom.

Roland's memory will live on in the hearts of all who love him.
