Roger John Schoenhals passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on October 16, 2023 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was born June 13, 1941 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Roger is survived by his daughters Lisa Greenleaf, Michelle Niemi, and Kathie Ditri, wife Betty Schoenhals (Horne) and his sister Janet Castorina. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Jessica Kennedy, Jennifer Clydesdale, Jeremy Copeland, Jack Greenleaf, and Samantha Niemi in addition to many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) and Margaret Schoenhals (Taber) and his son Donald Schoenhals.

Roger retired early from General Motors and enjoyed traveling the country with his wife in their RV, taking photos everywhere he went from favorites like Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, and several road trips to Alaska. He enjoyed skeet shooting and hunting in his younger years. In retirement, he loved woodworking and making things with his hands, crafting bowls and other objects from the apple tree in his parents’ yard. He made his own steam engine drawing on research, talent, and his own curiosity. He enjoyed mentoring others, was well-loved by all who knew him, and will be missed dearly.
